Favorite Food Friday: Mickey Cake Pop

Welcome back to another Favorite Food Friday hosted by the drafty Disney Day by Day!

Guys, I don't know if you know this about me, but I LOOOOVE cake.   It is my absolute favorite food.  So of course, the new Mickey cake pops were on my list of things to try during my mother/sister October 2012 trip.

Here we have the white chocolate/red velvet variety.  It was fudgy which I love, but the flavor was only okay.  I'm not a fan of wax I mean white chocolate.

As an aside, can we all agree that red velvet's only real use is as a vehicle for cream cheese frosting?

Would You Rather...

Alright.  Normally I'd put this in the upper left corner of the blog.  Riiight about
<-- b="" there="">

But it's too long to fit and SUCH a good question I think it deserves a full blog post.  SO, post your answers in the comments below!!

WOULD YOU RATHER.....

A) stay in your favorite WDW deluxe resort for free but be prohibited from eating any and all Disney food including counter service, sit downs, snacks, even the popcorn carts and Starbucks.  (You can bring your food, have groceries delivered from off property, or eat off property only.)

OR

B) eat wherever you want on property (any and all WDW food locations including restaurants, counter services, snack carts, etc.) completely for free and without those pesky "free" dining plan restrictions (e.g. you can eat at sit down restaurants five times a day or have seven snacks per day, every day if you wanted to), but you'd have to stay at your least favorite WDW resort the entire trip?

Sorry It's Not Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop: Boo to You Parade!

Welcome to this week's Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop hosted by the ferocious Focused on the Magic!  I'm continuing my recap of my mother/sister October 2012 trip.  You can find earlier posts here and here and here.

It was our first Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, and I had heard amazing things about the Boo to You Parade (and one of my friends used to be a shovel-dancer in the parade)!  I made sure to get a premium seat in Liberty Square.

I love these ghostly dancers!

Favorite Food Friday: Food and Wine 2012 Dessert Booth!

Welcome back to another Favorite Food Friday hosted by the democratic Disney Day by Day!

This post is going to be a big one.  I am a HUGE sweets person.  And I have very specific opinions of desserts (e.g. anything with fruit in it does not count as dessert, cake >>>> pie, etc.).  So I was very excited to try the offerings at the desserts and champagne booth!
We tried all three of the offerings.  None were particularly mindblowing to me (the chocolate would have been but for the other stuff in it), but they were all sweet and creamy and crunchy and yum.

First up, we have the lemon custard verrine with blueberry compote.  For a "dessert" that is primarily fruit, it was pretty good!  Creamy and sweet and tangy from the lemon.

Next up was probably our least favorite: yogurt panna cotta with orange cake, raspberries and pomegranate.  Again, too much fruit, not enough dessert.  And especially not enough cake!

Next, the one I was most excited for: the dark chocolate mousse (chocolate!  mousse!) with salted caramel (caramel!!!) and....chili (womp womp!).  Without the chili (and the white chocolate garnish - blech!), I would have eaten a large soup bowl worth of this stuff.  But the kick from the chili really ruined the delectable, indulgence of the chocolate and caramel for me.

We also tried the frozen Nesquik - it was refreshing.  I would have liked it to be more chocolaty, but Nesquik was always going to be a "chocolate-lite" in flavor.

Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop! Sleepy Hollow Treats

Welcome to this week's Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop hosted by the fearsome Focused on the Magic!  This week I'm actually on-theme!  The week's theme is T and my T is Treats! :D

Today I present you with some treats from Sleepy Hollow, which we (read: I) absolutely DEVOURED during our sister/mother October 2012 trip.

Ta da!!!!  A Nutella waffle with fruit.   It was hard to eat and the fruit  got in the way of the Nutella (isn't that always the case?), but I'm not sorry I ate it.

Next, a cookie ice cream sandwich with their special ice cream flavor of the day (week?): birthday cake!  Sweet and cold and creamy. Yum!!

Favorite Food Friday: Earl of Sandwich Italian

Welcome to another Favorite Food Friday hosted by the daffy Disney Day by Day!

You guys may remember my first Earl of Sandwich review of the Full Montagu and the Original 1762 (and the Coronet Cakes): here.

Well when Sarah of the Eating WDW blog started participating in the Eat Each Sandwich challenge, I knew I had to join in as well!  I also reviewed the Chicken Chipotle Avocado Sandwich (and their chocolate chip coookie), the All American Sandwich (plus oatmeal mini cookies), and the Earl Club Sandwich (plus chocolate and vanilla cupcakes)!

I also managed to squeeze in the Holiday Turkey Sandwich before I changed jobs and was no longer a mere 10 minute walk from the sole Earl of Sandwich in my area.  And the Hawaiian BBQ Sandwich here!

Well I happened to be in the neighborhood again on Martin Luther King day so I HAD to try out the Italian Sandwich.  It was a little on the salty side, and I maybe should have selected wheat bread instead of white to stand up to the ingredients.  But it was still pretty good.

Kill/Marry/Refurb: Live Performances in the Parks

I'm joining the marvelous Mouse on the Mind for the Kill/Marry/Refurb blog hop!  This week's theme is Live Performances in the Parks!  I assume that for this hop, there must be live actors in the traditional sense (sorry Country Bears); somehow I managed to focus solely on live MUSICAL performances.  I guess that's a bit hard to avoid in Disney.  Here we go!

Marry: Voyage of the Little Mermaid.  This is sheer nostalgia.  I LOVE the dated lasers!  I LOVE the refreshing water curtain!  I remember loving these as a kid.  We've been together for 20 years, VotLM and I, and I don't mind that you are aging and no one else loves you.  I'm ready to walk down that aisle.

Refurb: Finding Nemo - The Musical.  This show is clearly the best one in the park.  It comes the closest to that "Broadway quality" so many Disney fans think they understand.  (P.S. if you think any Disney Park show other than possibly this one approaches Broadway quality, I invite you to join me at an actual Broadway show so you can see the difference).  So why am I refurbing it?  Because the area right outside the show building ALWAYS SMELLS.  It smells of garbage or sewage or something and it's gross.  Can we please fix this?

Torture, then Murder and Bury in a Shallow Grave: Beauty and the Beast - Live on Stage.  I seriously cringe every time someone describes this as Broadway quality.  It is barely 7th grade play quality.  Feel free to peruse my scathing review here.  (Let's not even discuss the blanket dancing).

I refuse to acknowledge the existence of Lights, Motors, Action.

Favorite Food Friday: Food and Wine 2012 Hawaii

Welcome back to another Favorite Food Friday hosted by the dauntless Disney Day by Day!

Continuing my Food and Wine 2012 adventures, the Hawaii booth was just meh.  The slider was fine and the tuna poke felt weirdly....defrosted - the texture was a bit too mealy.  I wasn't mad about it but it wasn't my favorite and I wouldn't go back there without a new offering.
