Favorite Food Friday: Food and Wine France

Welcome back to another Favorite Food Friday hosted by the dazzling Disney Day by Day!

Of course we HAD to hit up the French booth at the 2012 Food and Wine Festival!  First up: the Coq au Vin.  Unremarkable in taste.  Not appetizing to look at.

Next my very first escargot!  Garlicky and buttery and easy to eat because bread covers the look of the snails.  The bread was a bit hard and I could have used less of it (smaller bread pots perhaps?) but I was proud of me for trying them!

Milk chocolate creme brulee: not my favorite.  You could barely taste any chocolate.  They should have just gone with vanilla or caramel or ACTUAL chocolate.  The flavor was half-assed.

Now hop on to the next stops!

Halloween and Disney

I LOVE Halloween.  No annoying relatives, free candy, and dressing up?  YES PLEASE!

My mom would tape Halloween tv specials on VHS tapes and we would replay them every year.  This one was my absolute favorite: Disney's "DTV" - an MTV-esque mix of 80s pop hits with Disney cartoons.  I will never not love this.  I hope it is preserved forever.  Like a mummy.  MUAHAHAHAHA!!

Club 33

Oh hey guys, sorry to interrupt but just wanted to let you know I ate at Club 33 this weekend.  In case you needed to feel jealous of someone this morning (and you should, it was DOPE).  Posts and photos to follow later of course.

Favorite Food Friday: MNSSHP Candy Cache

Welcome back to another Favorite Food Friday hosted by the devilish Disney Day By Day

I will go back to our regularly scheduled Food and Wine reviews, but I found this leftover pic from last year's Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.  Here is all the (blurry) candy we collected last year!

Now hop on to the next stops! MUAHAHAHAH!!!

Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop! Princeton and a Quinceanera (?) in Disneyland!

Welcome Back to another Wacky Wordless Wednesday hosted by Focused on the Magic!

This is actually PERFECT this week because Deb's theme is the letter P.  P for Princeton!

I had heard there was a Princeton "connection" on Disneyland's Main Street so I knew I had to find it.  In one of the tableaux in the Emporium you can see a vintage Princeton flag!

Then, while I was in DCA, I noticed this gorgeous moment.  I think maybe it was a quinceanera?  Any other ideas?  It must have been hot and hard to walk around the parks in that gown!

Disney Copyright/Trademark/Patent Infringement

Okay, I know almost nothing about copyright/trademark/patent law.  But this kind of thing annoys me because I am a rule-follower and think no one should try to cheat the system and make it harder for the people who work hard and follow the rules.  Yes I am aware that these instances are so small potatoes to Disney that they can't be bothered to enforce their intellectual property rights.  If they did that, the company would go bankrupt because this kind of thing is everywhere.  Nevertheless: annoying.

First we have a lovely establishment in the Lower East Side blatantly ripping off the Disney font.  Why?  Why can they not use their own font?

Next we have a baby store in New Jersey using the Bambi name in connection with a deer - which has NOTHING to do with bambi as a word (which is Italian for baby and so makes sense for a baby store name) except that DISNEY used it in a movie.  So why the deer unless they're trying to invoke the idea of Disney's intellectual property?  They could have easily used a cartoon baby, cartoon bird or bear, cartoon flowers, anything else.  But no, they picked a cartoon deer - which, in combination with the name Bambi, can only be a reference to Disney.

Finally, we have those upstanding citizens in Times Square pretending to be Disney characters to make a buck on photos.  Admirable no?

Favorite Food Friday: Food and Wine South Korea

Welcome back to another Favorite Food Friday hosted by the dapper Disney Day By Day

I was very excited to try out South Korea on my very first Food and Wine tour back in 2012!

The lettuce wrap with roast pork and kimchi slaw was refreshing!

The mungbean pancake with shrimp and kimchi sauce did not go over well with my companions - but I liked it!

A Pixar Story Meeting

Video of a Pixar story meeting!  Pretty cool!  My only issue is that the entire room seems to be only men - where are the women?

Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop! Trader Sam's

Welcome back to another Wordless Wednesday hosted by the dramatic Deb of Focused on the Magic!

I needed a break and to recharge my phone so I went back to my room briefly and then decided to unwind a little at Trader Sam's.  This was my first time checking out the place and it was pretty cool!

I was solo so I didn't feel comfortable getting the Uh-Oa but thankfully another patron did so I got to see the special effects!  The bartenders were really nice and friendly.  I had the Krakatoa Punch (above) and the Pirahana Pool (below) and both were delicious!

Now hop on to the next stops!

Schoolbread outside of Disney World

So this happened this weekend:

I went to Bakeri on Wythe Avenue in Brooklyn and dare I say, it was BETTER than the schoolbread at Kringla!
