Fastpass to History Blog Hop: Vintage Disney Toy!

I'm linking up with the fearless Frontierland Station for their fabulous Fastpass to History Blog Hop!

In going through my 1980s childhood toys in my parent's attic.  I came across this Fisher Price Movie Viewer Theater.

You would insert a cartridge and crank the handle (either the handheld viewer or the theater) and, like an automatic flip book, you'd see a story projected for your entertainment.  We had dozens of cartridges - Sesame Street, Warner Brothers - but of COURSE, a few Disney classics came up too:

Favorite Food Friday: Food and Wine Ireland

Welcome back to another Favorite Food Friday hosted by the dashing Disney Day By Day!

On our first day, after snacking at some other kiosks, we decided to ride some of the rides in Future World.  Once we got out of The Seas, it had started pouring one of those Florida afternoon storms.

We debated waiting it out.  I cursed myself for leaving our ponchos back in the room (was too excited to just get to the park that day!).  We decided to make a run for it back to the hotel.  As my mother noticed me looking longingly at the Food and Wine kiosks along the way, she suggested we just go for it.  We stopped at Ireland and ordered a bit of everything.

Hunkering down under the cover of the check in area of Rose and Crown, we had the cheese selection (good, not mindblowing):

The fisherman's pie (meh, not enough lobster):

And one each of the chocolate lava cakes:

It was a little wet, but an unforgettable moment of the trip!

Brief Rant: The Disney Afternoon is What's Wrong with My Generation

So as a free member of D23, I was perusing their newsletter recently and came across a link to audio of the Disney Afternoon theme song.  The Disney Afternoon aired from 1990 to 1997 - so basically when people my age were in elementary school and middle school.

A flood of memories immediately rushed to mind.  What a great song!  But, have you heard the lyrics lately?  Here is the chorus:

"There's so much to do
Getting ready just for you
Everybody's busy
Bringing you a Disney afternoon (hey!)
Can't you feel the buzz
Well, you're gonna' feel the buzz because
Everybody's busy
Just a little dizzy
Bringing you a Disney afternoon."

Getting ready just for ME! Everyone is working to bring ME a fun time? My my, I must be the center of the universe after all! I don't have to do anything but sit here and expect my
delightful entertainment to begin! This is an excellent message for an 8 year old.

No wonder Millenials are viewed as lazy and entitled.

#rantover

Guys, you DO know that I'm not blaming Disney or the song for the problems of the Millenials right? Just want to make that clear. LOL

Disney Princesses and Villains Spring 2014 (Updated)

Spring/Summer 2014 Fashion Weeks have been rolling by in New York, London, Milan, and Paris.  I've picked out some of my favorite gowns for some of my favorite princesses and villainesses.  Let me know what you think!

Favorite Food Friday: Food and Wine Belgium

Welcome back to another Favorite Food Friday hosted by the devious Disney Day By Day!

Our actual first stop on the Food and Wine tour (New Zealand was second now that I think about it) was Belgium.  Nothing like starting off the day with some mussels and waffles and chocolate!

I would have liked better quality bread.  You do need something to sop up the sauce of the mussels, but the bread tasted supermarket-quality.

The waffle was great - it wasn't crispy but you could really taste the vanilla - see the beans in the dough?

Chocolate is chocolate.  Nuff said.

Wordless Wednesday: Blue Bayou Part II

Welcome back to another Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop hosted by the fascinating Focused on the Magic!

Once I had settled down in my BALLER table at the Blue Bayou, I got down to the nitty gritty - eating!

Some bread and butter - not mindblowing, but you know, good.

Chicken gumbo appetizer!  Authentic (I assume).  Check out those big chunks of chicken!

The Monte Cristo!  It had to be done guys.  And I did it well.  Not even a little sorry about it.  It was hot, fried, salty and cheesy.  Ain't nothing wrong with that.

And a chocolate lava cake for dessert (I switched out the mint chocolate chip ice cream (yuck) for vanilla.)  It was good but not the highlight of the meal (that was the atmosphere).

True?

I didn't know this!

Favorite Food Friday! Food and Wine New Zealand

Welcome to another Favorite Food Friday Blog Hop hosted by the very special Sean at Disney Day by Day!  While I'm spending my Wordless Wednesdays recapping my Disneyland Trip from March 2013, I thought I'd take the opportunity of Favorite Food Fridays to recap my very first Food and Wine trip from October 2012.

We were staying at the Yacht Club, so New Zealand was one of our first stops as it's fairly close to the International Gateway.  We had the scallop with sweet potatoe puree and apple radish salad (which was delish but I would have appreciated 2 scallops instead of 1).

Then we tried the lamb meatball with spicy tomato chutney.  It was hard to eat but still good.  I couldn't really tell the difference between the lamb meatball and a regular meatball.  But I'm not sorry I ate it!

Wordless Wednesday: Blue Bayou Part I

Welcome back to another Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop hosted by the fantastical Focused on the Magic!

During my initial trips to Disneyland, I was never able to score a reservation at the Blue Bayou (too late, too closed for renovations).

Not this time!  Not only did I get to eat there, but I got a baller table right next to the water.

Yeah it's pretty dark.  All part of the ambiance!

Loved seeing the boats float by on their way to a pirate adventure!

On my next post you'll get to see what I ate for lunch while I was there!  Now hop on to the next stops!
