Favorite Food Friday: Food and Wine Canada

Welcome back to another Favorite Food Friday hosted by the dainty Disney Day by Day!

I mean of COURSE we had to try the Canada booth!  The cheddar cheese soup and the filet with mushrooms etc., as usual, yummy.  But the real star was the Chicken Chipotle Sausage with Sweet Corn Polenta and “Minus 8″ Onion Jam.  I mean WOW.  SO yummy

Embarrassingly WordFUL Wednesday Blog Hop: Test Track Evacuation!

Welcome to this week's Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop hosted by the frank Focused on the Magic!  I'm continuing my recap of my trip from September 2013.  You can find the earlier posts here and here and here.

So I decided to hop on Test Track the single rider line (from which they DO skip part of the attraction in the queue for efficiency reasons - your car design options are vastly more limited).

And, excitingly, I get evac'd!!!  I love getting a close up, lights-on view of rides (even if it means sitting next to a VERY talkative 6 year old and his completely useless dad)!  Here is part one of the pictures I took:

Random Disney Sighting: MOMA

So I decided to check out MoMA over MLK weekend because I haven't been there in ages despite spending most weekends within 10 blocks of it.  Of course, I had to capture this Disney reference in an installation on the 6th floor.  May I present you with artsy, silver, pink-eyed, angry Scrooge McDuck!

Despite it looking like a desk, this IS an installation in the retrospective on Isa Genken's work.  :)

Favorite Food Friday: Food and Wine Italy

Welcome back to another Favorite Food Friday hosted by the dependable Disney Day by Day!

Welp, it's about time I told you guys.  I'm engaged.  Or I would be, had I accepted the what I assume to be very heartfelt and sincere proposal from the Italian cast member at the Italy booth.  Truth be told, I haven't received a ring or heard from him since that day so I suppose he and I are on the outs.  Oh well, the food was okay at least.

I am an Italian American born and raised in the New York/New Jersey area.  So you will understand that my standards for Italian food are astronomically high.  This ravioli was alright, not mind blowing.

Same deal with the sausage and peppers.  The bread was the same quality as the bread at the New Zealand booth.   The cannoli were also fine.  That's all I have to say about this one.

In no way Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop: Epcot September 2013

Welcome to this week's Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop hosted by the frank Focused on the Magic!  I'm continuing my recap of my trip from September 2013.  You can find the earlier posts here and here.

While I was waiting for my Test Track FastPass to kick in, I decided to check out the new Habit Heroes.  Not gonna lie, it was a little awks doing this as a solo adult but whatever.  I got a rubber wristband out of it.  I found the secret code in the park afterwards (I was water/hydration).  It was cute.

Can you find the Hidden Mickey here?  This is in the last room of Habit Heroes

Well this is just pretty :)

Favorite Food Friday: Food and Wine Africa

Welcome back to another Favorite Food Friday hosted by the diurnal (literally!) Disney Day by Day!
I really enjoyed the Africa booth at the 2012 Food and Wine Festival.  Frankly, I could go for a spinach and paneer cheese pocket right now!

It's like the African version of spanikopita.  Less flaky, equally delicious.

The seared beef with sweet potato puree and braai sauce was really good too - the meat was perfectly medium rare.  The sauce had a little spice to it and I love food with a bit of a kick!

Laughably NOT Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop WDW September 2013 Epcot!

Welcome to this week's Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop hosted by the flexible Focused on the Magic!  I'm continuing my recap of my trip from September 2013.  You can find the earlier post here.

Since I had such an early flight, I checked in at the Poly (natch) and ran immediately to Epcot to try out the new (to me) Test Track.  I was worried about having to go in the standby line for the full experience but the Cast Member who checked me in at the Poly assured me that they had changed it so that the FastPass line had the whole experience too.

First an interior shot of an empty monorail for historical purposes.

RIP old school FastPasses (I saved some of course)

These were just pics for my friend who loves Eo.  I didn't ride it at this point.

Favorite Food Friday: Hawaiian BBQ Sandwich from Earl of Sandwich

Welcome to another Favorite Food Friday hosted by the daffy Disney Day by Day!

You guys may remember my first Earl of Sandwich review of the Full Montagu and the Original 1762 (and the Coronet Cakes): here.

Well when Sarah of the Eating WDW blog started participating in the Eat Each Sandwich challenge, I knew I had to join in as well!  I also reviewed the Chicken Chipotle Avocado Sandwich (and their chocolate chip coookie), the All American Sandwich (plus oatmeal mini cookies), and the Earl Club Sandwich (plus chocolate and vanilla cupcakes)!

I also managed to squeeze in the Holiday Turkey Sandwich before I changed jobs and was no longer a mere 10 minute walk from the sole Earl of Sandwich in my area.

Well I happened to find myself near EoS around lunch time recently so I knew I had to stop by.  I went with the Hawaiian BBQ Sandwich on wheat this time, which is described as Grilled chicken, ham, Swiss, pineapple & Hawaiian BBQ sauce.

The first and only thing you really taste is the barbecue sauce.  This is NOT a complaint.  The BBQ sauce was bomb.  I could tell there was ham, swiss and pineapple in there (although the flavors were overpowered by the sauce) but I literally had no idea there was chicken in there until I read the description on the menu.  Still, not sorry I tried this one.  Mmmmmm barbecue sauce......

Kill, Marry, Refurb: Disney World Spinner Rides

I'm joining the magnificent Mouse on the Mind for the Kill/Marry/Refurb blog hop!  This week's theme is Spinner Rides. Does anyone else hear the word "spinner" and think of that Entourage episode where the short guy dates the model?  No?  Just me?  Okay then.  I promise I'm not an Entourage-fan.  We all lived in 2006 once, you know?

Anyway, I digress.  Spinner rides.  This is going to be quick and dirty.

Kill:

Triceratops Spin.  Does anyone care about this ride?  It's not like DAK needs a people-eater.  Let the kiddies hop on Primeval Whirl.  Their youthful joints can take the jostling.  Kids are resilient.

Kill [not a typo]:

Astro Orbiter.  It's as boring as your usual spinner ride, but with the added bonus of being terrifyingly high off the ground.  I do not trust centripetal force THAT much.  Okay fine, since the motion and aesthetic of the apparatus contributes to the kinetic energy of Tomorrowland (and lord knows Tomorrowland needs all the help it can get), you can keep the spinning apparatus solely for show.  See how nice I'm being?

Kill [still not a typo]:

Magic Carpets of Aladdin.  Thanks to THIS addition, Adventureland now closely resembles Times Square in terms of crowd flow and traffic.  Can we just not?

Date Casually and Remain Friends After:

Dumbo.  It's a classic.  The ride structure is beautiful.  It keeps the kiddies and annoying parents away from me.  We'll be facebook friends who meet up for drinks occasionally and laugh about how we dated that one time.

Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop! Disney World September 2013

Welcome to this week's Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop hosted by the flowery Focused on the Magic

I am finally ready to start blogging about my solo trip to Disney World over Labor Day weekend 2013!  I love a good solo trip because I can do what I want, when I want.  No muss no fuss no waiting.  Here are some shots from me getting to the World:

My sister and I weirdly LOVE this ride!

These are fun but I would have liked a better angle.

Favorite Food Friday: Food and Wine China

Welcome back to another Favorite Food Friday hosted by the dramatic Disney Day by Day!

The China booth wasn't bad.  But it wasn't my favorite either. They had a lot of choices, but most were pretty pedestrian.  My sister bit the chicken satay before I could grab a picture!

Inside of the pork potstickers, sans camera focus.  They were your typical Chinese restaurant quality.

The mango tapioca pudding was blah.  I don't care for gel like that.  It's too unnatural for my liking.

The pot stickers did have a bit of a nice crust on them though.

My favorite was the steamed bun with Mongolian beef.  I LOVED the texture of the bun and it was just unusual enough for me to feel like I tried something new.
