Favorite Food Friday: Earl of Sandwich Caprese

Welcome to another Favorite Food Friday hosted by Disney Day by Day!

As seems to be the custom lately, I had plans to swing by Earl in NYC for lunch with Disney friends over Memorial Day weekend.  We were devastated to learn that Earl is closed on Sundays!  Fortunately, my office was also closed on Monday for Memorial day, so I got to go back then.  I am so close to completing Eat Each Sandwich challenge! (For links to the rest of my reviews, scroll down!)

This time, I had the Caprese sandwich on white bread.  The bread was beautifully toasted as always and had pesto spread on it that really made the sandwich extra delicious

The tomatoes were fine and the mozzarella cheese was plentiful.  There was also a drizzle of balsamic vinegar reduction on it to add a little umami flavor.  My favorite part was the pesto though - without it the sandwich would have been unremarkable at best.
This was definitely one of my favorite Earl sandwiches in recent memory.

Favorite Food Friday: Earl of Sandwich Ham n Swiss

Welcome to another Favorite Food Friday hosted by the devious Disney Day by Day!

Another trip with a friend to Earl of Sandwich in Manhattan continuing on in my Eat Each Sandwich challenge. (For links to the rest of my reviews, scroll down!)

This time I went with the Ham and Swiss on wheat (my preferred kind of bread unless the sandwich really needs the white).

The sandwich was good. The cheese was nicely melty and the creaminess paired well with the ham.  The mustard wasn't very strong but didn't completely disappear against the fillings, and the wheat bread brought an extra dimension of flavor.

This sandwich isn't going to win any awards, nor is it the most unusual or creative option, but it does the job well.
